It is unlikely that we will traverse our journey and not come into contact with others as they move along in the same direction that we are going. And for the most part while we will interact with others in a limited way there are times when we will react to their proximity to our mission, our tasks, our goals and we will be affected by what they are doing and how they are doing it. And it sort of begs the question what to do about this scenario. Do we chase them if they are in front; if they are behind do we go faster to keep them away? Some of us do better being chased and others of us like chasing. What is good to consider is the benefit that can come from an external motivation. Should we look for catalysts that make us move faster, work harder, think better. It sort of matters none if we are in front or behind what might matter more is the focus that comes when we look at standards that are being set by others that we want to emulate. Here’s to improving our performance when we are chasing or being chased…..
