The quarter mile...

Run the quarter mile – see how fast we can go.  It is a good distance, not too long, but long enough that at a full sprint it is a tough distance.  It is a distance that is used to measure overall speed and it is a distance that can be practiced again and again, and we can improve at it for sure.  So, what if you are 85 years old, is it even possible to run the quarter mile, at a decent speed?  Well, of, course, the answer is yes! In Torun, Poland on March 26, at the 8th Masters Athletic Championships in the 85 + category for the quarter mile Tseren Radnaa found his way to the front of the pack and stayed there throughout and when he passed the finish line the clock read 1:20 – WOW! And a world record to boot! Inspiring and thought provoking. It makes one wonder if we can each be that fit at 85 years old.  Our THPL mantra would tell us that it is up to us to put ourselves on that pathway if we so choose.  We can decide that the limits that others impose need not be our limits, that we can think big and be bold.  And if we are to indeed get to 1:20 when we are 85 then we will need to start putting down some time on the track to stay fit and strong and get to our best possible results.  Here’s to making sure that age does not get our way on our journey
