Fastest Known Time or FKT has become more talked about lately. Maybe it is because apps like Strava have allowed us to better capture our individual best times for a particular route, run or tide. For many years the trail running and climbing communities used the concept to track and celebrate amazing individual accomplishments. An FKT is the fastest reported time, essentially a race course record, except that FKT’s are usually solo or near-solo efforts. They are quite fitting for the THPL journey as much of what we do is to get out there on our own and push our performance limits. Having records, or “markers” for great times is very helpful and gives us a standard to shoot for. What better thing could there be for a THPL aficionado? So, add THPL to FKT and you have a formula for great performance!
