I have always been a fan of Coca Cola. Love their products, their messages, and their global reach. There are a lot of ways to connect with consumers / customers and Coke has again and again found very effective and lasting ways to do this. Whether it be the iconic “I’d like to Buy the World a Coke” campaign in 1971 to the Polar Bear campaign in 1993 to the Share a Coke campaign of 2014 that is becoming a social media hit his summer it really is interesting to see the impact that Coke can have around the world. From everything I read and see more people are connecting to more people because of the campaign. We are sharing more and thinking about others more. We are thinking about who is important to me? Who do I want to share a nice thought with? Or how can I get myself to feel more connected to the larger community of people who share a similar product that I like. The underlying theme is powerful and compelling and while there can be “questions” about intent of “campaigns” I suggest we take the good out of what is around us and appreciate it for what it can help do.
Share a Coke makes life a bit more personal and in today’s time starved world we can all (THPLers included) benefit from a stronger and more regular connection amongst our friends, acquaintances and loved one’s. So even if you don’t want to drink the product you can download the app, make a few bottles up between you and a few special people, and share it with them. I am sure they will be happy to know you were thinking about them and took a moment to memorialize it. And you can take it even a step further and share pictures of your personalized Cokes with the hashtag #shareacoke.
Loving life while sharing a Coke.
