Warby Parker

I am sure that many in our community have proven that age is not really much of a limiter in pursuing THPL.   We know that with the right focus, preparation, practice and follow-through we can go beyond the “norm” and become faster, smarter, and even happier as we get older. The one thing, though, I have found that seems impossible to slow down is the loss of good eye sight.  Laser surgery works for only so long and even those of us who started with excellent eye sight have been humanized and relegated to some form of reading glasses (many from CVS or the like).  And so if glasses are indeed in our future then some good thought should be given to the price, the look and selection process.  Enter Warby Parker; the virtual eye-glass company.  I must say that my comments might be a bit biased as I am an avid Warby Parker eye-glass owner (two pairs).  What’s not to like?  They sell each pair for $95, they are cool looking, well made and you can have up to five pairs shipped to your home to try them on and then you can send them back if you do not like them.  If that is not enough they play a big role in the “social giving space” and  this summer they hit an amazing milestone. They gave away their 500,000 pair of glasses. Yup, they did. Their model is to give away a pair of glasses to someone in need every time someone buys a pair of Warby Parker glasses.

Warby Parker was founded with a rebellious spirit and a lofty objective: to create boutique-quality, classically crafted eyewear at a revolutionary price point.  And from my experience they do exactly this.  I need not say much more than they are a role model for THPL.  Amazing product, great price, community focused and industry transformation – all rolled into one.  Check them out when you can and I bet you will find them to be as compelling as I do  - http://www.warbyparker.com/
