Juneteenth is the day when we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. And yes, it is true that June 19th is Juneteenth and today is June 20th. But in this the opportunity to think about the importance of the 19th of June not just as a day of commemoration, but more as a way of thinking and caring and remembrance for the purpose of change in the future. We need to treat all of our community with respect and care and value. Let’s carry the positive feelings that the day is meant to represent, every day, till Juneteenth is upon us again and more of a way of life than just a federal holiday.
